Technology and tourism are building the modern museum exhibition experience, extending history beyond four walls

Assisting the Galveston Historical Foundation in a transition to a contemporary tourism business, Gibson Group is participating in master planning to develop a network of museum exhibition experiences under the eponymous brand.

GalvestonHistory+ is both a brand and interconnected visitor experience. It uses a digital interactive system that tracks visitor data through a membership card, and curates personalised experiences in GHF’s network of historic visitor attractions.

See Galveston’s History, Your Way

Upon entry at one of the GalvestonHistory+ museum exhibitions, Visitors record basic contact details using iPads that scan their user card’s unique QR code with the device camera. The system records the visitor’s subsequent interactions in each location-based experiences, and integrates both sets of data into the organisation’s Salesforce CRM, enabling interest targeted individual marketing campaigns.

In parallel, an extensive Content Management System serves as the organisation’s principle content research repository, and can push visitor-ready content to the various visitor attraction exhibitions.

The Galveston Historical Foundation operates 10 historic sites on the island of Galveston as tourism attractions, including the Galveston Historic Seaport and Pier 21 Theatre.
